Eating Disorders
Working on your relationship with food and your body can be a complicated one. Those struggling with eating disorders or disordered eating behaviors may engage in restriction of their food intake, binge eating, purging behaviors, obsessive calorie counting, excessive exercise, and/or chronic dieting. You may find that engaging in these behaviors and the overwhelming/ obsessive thoughts about food or your body are getting in the way of you living your life to the fullest. These thoughts and behaviors may be getting in the way of spending time with loved ones, engaging in exciting and new activities, or going out and meeting new people.
Why Seek Treatment For Eating disorders?
If you are struggling with disordered eating, chronic dieting, or negative relationship with food then psychotherapy with an eating disorder specialized provider may be a good fit for you. When working with a therapist trained in the treatment of eating disorders it opens a door for you to work with someone who can support you from a place of understanding and non judgement. When in therapy it will allow for you to gain more insight into your behaviors and how they serve you, while also gaining tools and coping strategies that support recovery. Therapy will provide a space for you to explore your eating disorder on a deeper level to help work towards managing your emotions, behaviors, thoughts in relation to your eating disorder.
Eating disorder therapy is for all genders, ages and races. Eating disorders do not discriminate and eating disorders definitely don't have a "look". It is time to seek treatment if you feel your relationship to your body, food, and your relationship with yourself is getting in the way of living your life to its full potential.
