Navigate change with clarity and confidence

Therapy for life transitions that helps you find your footing when everything feels uncertain

When the ground beneath you shifts

One day you knew who you were and where you belonged.
Then life happened.

Maybe it was a career change, relationship ending, move to a new city, loss of someone important.

Suddenly the map you've been following no longer makes sense.

Change feels overwhelming even when it's something you chose. Your identity feels fuzzy. Sleep becomes elusive as your mind processes all the unknowns. Friends and family say "this is exciting!" but you feel more scared than thrilled.

You're caught between who you used to be and who you're becoming, and that in-between space feels uncomfortable and disorienting.

Every ending carries within it the seeds of a new beginning. Sometimes we need to sit in the discomfort of not knowing before we can discover who we're meant to become next.

How we navigate change together

Transitions aren't just about adjusting to new circumstances

They're opportunities for growth and rediscovering who you are. We work together to help you find meaning in the change and develop resilience for future transitions.

Rather than rushing to "get over" the discomfort of change, we explore what this transition is teaching you about yourself and what you value.

You'll develop skills for managing uncertainty and learn to trust your ability to adapt and thrive, even when you can't see the whole path ahead.

Treatment Approaches I Use

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Helps identify and challenge thought patterns that make transitions feel more overwhelming than they need to be.

We work on replacing catastrophic thinking with more realistic, constructive perspectives about change and your ability to handle it.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Transitions often pull us into anxiety about the future or regret about the past.

Mindfulness techniques help you stay present during times of change, reduce overwhelm, and develop acceptance for the uncertainty that comes with major life shifts.

Mindfulness techniques

Focuses on how life transitions impact your relationships and how relationship changes affect your sense of self.

We work on communicating your needs during times of change and navigating how transitions shift your connections with others.

Family/couples therapy

Major life changes affect entire family systems, not just individuals.

We work together to help everyone adjust to new roles, improve communication about the transition, and maintain connection during times of significant change.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

When transitions trigger past traumas or unresolved losses, EMDR can help process these experiences so they don't interfere with your ability to move forward.

Particularly helpful when current changes remind you of previous difficult transitions.

Hi there, I'm Danielle Widmann

Founder of Holding Space Mental Health Counseling
Transitions can make us feel like we're failing or falling behind, but change is actually one of the most human experiences we share.

As someone who specializes in helping people navigate life transitions, I understand that even positive changes can feel destabilizing.

My approach isn't about rushing you through the discomfort of change or convincing you that everything happens for a reason. Instead, we work together to find your footing in the uncertainty and help you discover what this transition might be offering you.

I believe you have everything you need to navigate this change, even when it doesn't feel that way.

  • LMHC
  • Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College
  • EMDR trained
  • I have extensive training post grad from private practices and ED residential centers where I was trained in psychodynamic, relational, and CBT therapy.
